How Sephiria characters work
Sephiria’s playable character choices are documented as Costumes selected in Bunnyville before the next adventure. They are not merely skins: a Costume can alter starting items, core stats, Dash behavior, MP, damage scaling, inventory space, or the way a resource is used. Choosing one therefore changes the starting assumptions of a build before the first weapon upgrade appears.
The captured community database for version 1.0.24 lists 27 playable Costumes. Eight are recorded as available by default and 19 as unlockable through play. Appearance variants are tracked separately because a visual variation does not create another mechanical ruleset.
Choose by mechanical theme
The saved material groups Costumes by what they influence rather than by a single tier list. Useful comparison groups include Elemental Magic, Grimoire and MP, Dash and Mobility, Critical and Special Attack, Debuff and Risk-Reward, Inventory and Economy, and Artifact Companion themes. This organization answers a build question more clearly than ranking every character in one line.
| Costume theme | What to inspect before a run | Builds most affected |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Magic | Starting element and trigger access | Fire, lightning, cold, and mixed elemental routes |
| Grimoire / MP | MP pool, spell access, or Grimoire cost | Resource-heavy magic routes |
| Dash / Mobility | Dash count, movement, or Dash-linked effects | Repositioning and Dash-trigger engines |
| Critical / Special | Critical or special-attack rules | Burst and reaction-oriented weapons |
| Debuff / Risk-Reward | Required drawback or conditional payoff | Builds that can manage the stated risk |
| Inventory / Economy | Starting space, item access, or resource flow | Artifact-dense and flexible routing |
| Artifact Companion | Starting Artifact relationship | Routes built around that companion effect |
Recorded unlock examples
The v1.0.24 archive records several unlock goals. Red-Clothed Cat is associated with reaching 50 Fire Damage, Frog with 50 Lightning Damage, Otter with at least 175% Critical Damage, and Eagle with Dash Count 8. Scholar Lizard is associated with Hard Mode 20+, while Fairy of Fortune is associated with completing Chapter 4: Fragment.
Other recorded goals use cumulative or single-adventure conditions. Mole is tied to defeating 300 Moles over time, Skeleton to losing 333 HP in one adventure, and Ghost to obtaining at least five Grimoires in one adventure. These numbers are included as labeled archive records, not permanent official guarantees; verify the live unlock panel before planning a run around them.
Unlock planning without wasting a run
Read the condition before entering and choose a weapon, Costume, and route that can actually produce it. A fire or lightning threshold needs a path that exposes the relevant effect, while a Dash condition needs mobility choices rather than unrelated damage. A single-adventure condition must be completed before that run ends; a cumulative condition can be progressed across attempts if the current client still describes it that way.
Do not pursue several conflicting unlocks at once. An inventory or build designed around one threshold is easier to evaluate, and failure still teaches whether the route can reach the condition. Record the version and current wording when the unlock completes so an older number does not continue circulating after a patch.
Costume effects are build assumptions
A shared build should always name its Costume. If the Costume changes starting items, MP, Dash, or inventory, another player using the same weapon and Artifact list may not reproduce the same result. Separate the Costume’s contribution from the weapon branch and the inventory engine when comparing two clears.
The same warning applies to screenshots of final stats. A number without the Costume, version, permanent unlocks, and route is not a transferable recommendation. The useful question is which rule the Costume changes and whether the rest of the build takes advantage of that rule.
Elru is not a playable Costume
Elru appears in the collected material as a named NPC connected to a Hide-and-Seek or Ask Around quest. The reported route sends the player to three hiding places around Bunnyville and the Ark puzzle room. That role does not establish Elru as a playable character, and this wiki does not mix NPC records with the 27 Costume count.
The same evidence rule applies to every named figure. A character appearing in dialogue, an encounter, or a community page is not automatically playable. The Costume selection interface is the authority for playable choices in the current version.
Version and naming limits
The count and unlock examples above come from a community database labeled v1.0.24. Costume effects, thresholds, and names can change after updates, and machine-translated archives may produce different English wording. Check the Bunnyville Costume area and live unlock description before committing to a numeric target.
This page does not invent missing character biographies or assume relationships that the collected sources do not document. It focuses on the search intent supported by the evidence: what the playable choices do, how they are grouped, and which recorded goals unlock them.
